Jarred Land

Jarred Land (born May 30, 1975) is an American photographer, cinematographer, film producer and the current president of the Red Digital Cinema Camera Company. He is the owner and founder of REDUSER.net and DVXuser.com, the two leading websites running under the name of Landmine Media for the discussions and help about the digital cinema cameras and film making. Jarred has worked as a cinematographer in the critically acclaimed documentary, Shadow Company which was narrated by Gerard Butler. He had also founded a bicycle courier company in Vancouver known as zoom.

Early career

Living the first 22 years of his life in Edmonton, Alberta, Jarred Land went to study in Strathcona Composite High School and then later went to Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. In 1997, he moved to Vancouver, BC and founded zoom, a bicycle messenger company in downtown Vancouver. During that time he bought a Panasonic video camera (DVX100) to create a documentary on bicycle messengers. In July of 2003, Jarred registered the domain DVXuser.com and started a forum regarding his DVX100 camera to ask for help from other experts about film making to bypass film school. He ended up selling his Courier company in late 2004 to pursue a career as a cinematographer. Jarred Land and Nick Bicanic formed Purposelabs, with the motivation to work with Vision Research to tailor their scientific cameras to the cinematography world.

Career work

Jarred Land has faced a diversified career in his life starting from the owner of a courier company to the executive member of a big company. He enjoined working in film industry as a cinematographer and producer and also utilized the opportunity to help thousands of independent film makers using his websites.

Landmine Media

Landmine Media, Inc. is owned by Jarred Land (President), Jason E. Ramsey (Vice President of Operations) and Christine Ganda (Secretary/Bookkeeper). This company controls three major websites which are DVXuser.com, REDUSER.net and Landmine.tv. All of these websites are owned by Jarred Land.

DVXuser & REDUSER

The DVXuser.com is the largest prosumer and professional camera forum on the internet. It has 83,950 users (as of October 13, 2011) and it contains 2,376,079 posts It was originally created for the discussion regarding Panasonic DVX100 camera but then its scope went wide with the discussions of film making and editing. Jarred Land said during an interview about the site in 2006, "Within a year, DVXuser.com had over 3,000 registered users and many of them were talking about subjects other than the DVX100". Jarred created REDUSER.net as an offshoot of DVXuser as the development of the RED camera commenced. It was created in 2006, to help general people understand the technology and working of RED camera's. This is also a leading website on the topic of cameras like DVXuser and contains forum for all the people. The statistics of REDUSER.net shows that it has got 41,454 users and 810,062 posts. Jarret Land has personal accounts on both of these sites and he uses them frequently to keep his members informed about the new technologies in cameras and to update everyone about launch of his company's latest products.

RED

Jim Jannard, the founder of Oakley, was a member of DVXuser.com through which he connected with Jarred Land in September 2005 and began discussing the RED CAMERA. The company's first camera was the RED ONE and was supported by Peter Jackson and Steven Soderbergh. Feature films that have been shot on RED include David Fincher's The Social Network(2010), Contagion (2011), Ché (2008), District 9 (2009), Knowing (2009), Rabbit Hole (2010), Gamer (2009), Fair Game (2010), Pirates of the Caribbean 4 (2011) and many others.
The next generation RED cameras released in 2011 are called EPIC and SCARLET. EPIC is currently being used on several of the biggest budget Hollywood movies including Peter Jackson's The Hobbit, The Amazing Spider-man, Ridley Scott's Prometheus, Jack the Giant Killer, Underworld 4 (2011) and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011). Jim Jannard currently owns the company and Jarred Land is the "Fire Chief" (president) of the company after him.
DeBranne Treu (born DeBranne Marie Scott Treu on June 14, 1973) is an American polymath: painter, poet, sculpture artist, model, performing artist and designer of architecture, interiors, furniture, fashion, jewelry and graphics. Becoming internationally known as the new age ad Vinci, she is talented in many areas with a great curiosity and study of physics as well as metaphysics (sacred geometry and quantum physics). She is the owner at `atoutZ, a group of artists having multiple talents and Avante Swim, her own swim line. Her heritage includes Norwegian Royalty, French, English, German and the Seminole Native American Indians. DeBranne currently resides in Southern California with her husband Jarred Land, who has been recently appointed as the president at Red Digital Cinema. Her past time includes dancing, reading, writing, hiking, and hanging out at the beach while she also enjoys photography, sculpture and reading.

Early Years

DeBranne Treu was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan and raised in Southern Illinois, showing an intense interest in the arts during her early years. She started freelancing in grade school, creating cards with graphic design, signs for local stores, menu's (from grade school through high), that combined with taking a wide range of classes, made her very versatile. She continued freelancing many art and design projects for various international companies while becoming accepted in the reputable art gallery in Sagautuck Michigan, Water Street Gallery, all before graduating college. After graduation, she followed her passions in art and design and since then she has sold paintings thru galleries, interior decorators as well as famous private collectors.

Career Work

Though her main focus has been primarily painting, in between paints she does architectural consultation, architectural illustrations, interior decorating, furniture design, fashion and jewelry design, set and costume design, direction, singing, acting, dancing and modeling. She began a major in Illustration but after learning about the "Golden Mean" and relating everything to art, she developed a desire to become educated in many other areas, ranging from fine arts, design & engineering to performing arts.

`atoutZ & Avente Swim

`atoutZ (`a tout - French, everything. Z - English, A to Z). `atoutZ is a collective of cross-disciplinary artists whose talents span art and design. DeBranne began developing the `atoutZ concept in her early years of college. It started with art history classes, learning about the Golden Mean and a scientific method to all visual, which inspired intensive study of all the arts. Attending an event and talk by a couple Italian Artists, with their A to Z, was a subtle inspiration. It wasn’t until studying aboard, in Europe, she noticed amazing art being sold on the street and took it for granted, thinking it would be everywhere. It was then, on her flight back to the US, that she decided to create `atoutZ, a group of passionate and exceptionally talented artists.
In 2009, DeBranne released a new swim line, Avante Swim, available at Cielo’s in Laguna Beach, California, Jigsaw on Melrose in Los Angeles, California and Surf Style in South Beach, Miami, Florida.

Art & Design

The most important area of DeBranne's life is her art and design where she has always been a passionate artist with a lot of potential. DeBranne has explained her artitsic approach with the following words:
"I am an artist, not by choice, but Desire.

Curiosity leads me to study everything from physics to metaphysics.
Constantly researching and trying to evolve my work and myself,..

Present Work

Residing in Southern California, where she is currently working on an `atoutZ show for New York, which will feature paintings of California forest fires, smog, and prototypes of her new young women’s clothing line. DeBranne’s future goal is to start a non-profit art and life center for the inner city children, involving art programs and supplies, direction and space to create. The focus is finding their talent and passion.

5 Most Influential Modern American Jiu Jitsu Teachers

 1.      Wally Jay

Wally Jay (June 16, 1917 – May 29, 2011) was an American martial artist who primarily studied and taught jujutsu and judo. He was the founder of the Gendai Budo martial art Small Circle JuJitsu.
Jay spent time with Bruce Lee and his associates in 1962 teaching them judo and jujutsu techniques. Jay was the head instructor of Jay's Jujitsu Studio, which is also known as Island Judo/Jujitsu Club in Alameda, California. Even past the age of 90, he traveled worldwide teaching seminars on Small Circle Jujitsu. Jay published two books; Dynamic Ju Jitsu and Small Circle JuJitsu and numerous instructional videos.

Budoshin Ju-Jitsu was made popular by George Kirby and considered a traditional form of jiu jitsu that dates back to Ibaragi Toshifusa [1597-1677] founder of Kito-Ryu Ju-jitsu, and Takagi Orieman Shigenbudo [1615-1711] founder of Yoshin Ryu Ju-Jitsu. It is designed to help you learn traditional jiu jitsu and self defense and became popular with the advent of the internet and release of Kirby's books and DVD's.

3.  Rod Sacharnoski

Soke Juko-Kai jiu jitsu Juko-Kai is often referred to as "combat KI" or "combat Jiu Jitsu" and has been featured in dozens of TV shows including specials on ABC’s Wide World Of Sports, CNN Take Two, You Asked For It, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, Seeing Is Believing, Univision, The Learning Channel’s Ultimate 10 Martial Arts, The Discovery Channel’s Way Of The Warrior, The Fit Channel, The Discovery Channel’s More Than Human and the Steve Harvey Big Time show,and Fox Sports Science. Sacharnoski was one a very few non-Asians  to be promoted to the rank of  9th dan on Okinawa and was promoted to 9th dan Hanshi in Seidokan Karate, Kobudo and Toide by Shian Toma, Soke/Headmaster Okinawa Seidokan Karate And Kobudo Renmei, Okinawa/Japan. 

4. George Anderson 
Anderson passed away in 2010 and he was the founder of the United States Ju-Jitsu Federation.  Founder of the USA Karate Federation and the Central Tae Kwon Do Association. Vice President of World Union of Karate-do Organization (WUKO),and World Karate Federation (WKF). He was inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame in 1986, featuring on the covers of Karate Illustrated magazine, April 1992. and again on the cover of Karate Profiles magazine, August 1993.
5.  Ted Gambordella


“Dr.” Ted Gambordella (born February 22, 1948) is an American Jiu Jitsu (a Japanese martial art) teacher who is often referred to as “the Father of Modern American Jiu Jitsu”, because of his exceptional efforts in the evolution of Jiu Jitsu in USA. He has made significant contributions to martial arts, fitness, and health in America starting in 1972 and continuing now in 2011. He is frequently recognized in the list of five most influential American Jiu Jitsu teachers ever. Almost 47 years ago, Dr. Ted Gambordella began his martial arts training in Alexandria, LA. Gambordella was also trained directly by Soke Church who promoted him to black belt in Aiki Jitsu and Weapons that made him the first Weapons Black Belt in the Southern US. He has written and published 42 books and 38 DVD's on jiujitsu due to which he is the most published marshal artist ever. He has achieved a lot many firsts in his life, e.g:

1st author to write a book on Hard KI (chi), Injury Protection
1st American Jiu Jitsu author to produce and sell martial arts book digitally. The Ultimate Martial Arts Collection CD
